Family Legal Expenses Cover

Family Legal Expenses provides cover for a range of legal disputes covering domestic property, consumer contracts, employment disputes and professional negligence.

We would recommend that you read the policy wording and the key facts document to fully appreciate the cover provided and any exclusions and limitations.

  • Consumer contract disputes for the purchase or hire of services for private use and the sale of privately owned goods
  • Professional negligence disputes with solicitors, accountants and surveyors. You must have entered into the agreement after the start of this policy
  • Employment disputes relating to your contract of employment with the exception of Directors
  • Legal defence for prosecution in a criminal court out of the sale or supply of privately owned goods
  • Loss of salary to attend a court or tribunal at request of the appointed representative or as a defendant provided the salary is not recoverable from the court
  • Modest excesses of only £75 on all claims except employment disputes which are £250
  • On all claims the amount in dispute must exceed £250 and the maximum paid out in a year is £50,000
  • Boundary disputes in the first 180 days are not covered unless the policy is a renewal

Key Cover

Up to £1,500 of insurance cover should the keys attached to your issued fob are lost, stolen or are damaged in locks or ignitions.

We would recommend that you read the policy wording and the key facts document to fully appreciate the cover provided and any exclusions and limitations.

  • Covers locksmith charges, new locks and keys, car hire and onward transport costs
  • Covers all the keys on the fob including expensive car keys which can cost several hundred pounds
  • Up to 3 days car hire to £30 per day if you are stranded or your car is unusable as a result of being lost, stolen or damaged
  • There are some restrictions where cover does not apply which include:
    1. If the keys are  lost, broken or stolen by someone else
    2. If there are duplicate keys available reasonably quickly
    3. Sums exceeding £50 per incident if an insured key is locked inside a property or broken in a lock or ignition
