Routes to Roots

As a 100% family owned business based in Poole, Dorset, we feel it’s important to give something back to the community. Since our specialist service has always been the provision of home insurance, we thought it fitting to show our support to the homeless in our local area.

  • A remarkable, very hands on charity, making a real difference to the lives of the homeless in Poole, Routes to Roots provide both social and spiritual support to those fallen on hard times, as well as life’s necessities; food, clothes, a place to wash and a place to rest.
  • With the support of ourselves, of others and of local volunteers, Routes to Roots are able to run a number of highly beneficial programs, including regular Drop-Ins and Afternoon Projects designed to befriend, inspire and empower the homeless, as well as much appreciated soup runs five nights a week.

What methods of payment are available?

You can choose to pay by a number of secure methods.

  • All major credit or debit cards for single payments
  • Single payment Direct Debit using your bank details
  • Pay monthly by paying a deposit on a credit or debit card followed by monthly payments on direct debit. Interest charges will apply.

What happens if I change my mind and want to cancel the policy?

No problem. Just call us on 0844 225 4022 or 01202 937412 during office hours. Monday to Friday 9.00 to 18.30 and Saturdays 9.00 to 12.30.

If you want to cancel before the policy goes live then you receive a full refund. If you cancel within 14 days of going live you only pay for the period of cover used. If you cancel after 14 days then you will qualify for a refund of premium in most cases but an administration charge will apply.

Who monitors Highworth Insurance?

Highworth Insurance is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). It is firm number 578639 and can be found on the register at the FCA’s website www.fca.org.uk/

Highworth Insurance is also covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).

I haven’t received my documents yet, why?

We normally only send documents by email. It is always worth checking your spam folder in case your server has sent your documents there.  If you haven’t received them within 24 hours of completing your purchase then please call us during office hours to ensure we have your correct details. Just call us on 0844 225 4022 or 01202 937412 during office hours. Monday to Friday 9.00 to 18.30 and Saturdays 9.00 to 12.30.

What does contents insurance cover?

Contents insurance covers items that are normally portable when you move home. This includes items such as furniture, kitchen appliances, computers, home entertainment equipment and personal items.

All our policies replace lost or damaged items on a new for old basis (except clothing and household linen).

What’s the maximum amount of cover I can take?

As standard we can offer up to £2m buildings cover and £500,000 contents. However, you are able to cover greater amounts by calling our office on 0844 225 4025 or 01202 937430 during office hours.

Do I have to list all my valuables for them to be covered?

No, you only have to list valuables such as jewellery and watches which are worth more than £5,000. Items under £5,000 are automatically covered with most insurers. All individual antiques and works of art are automatically covered up to £15,000.  Please ask your account manager for more information.

What’s the claims service like?

All claims are handled directly by our underwriters, many of which are backed by Lloyds of London, some of which have won awards for their claims handling service.  Should you have any issue with how a claim is being progressed then we will actively support you to a satisfactory resolution.
