High Value Women’s Watches

The world of high value woman’s watches is arguably a very different place from that dominated by exclusive watches for men.  Highworth Insurance takes a look at the leading high end watch brands for women and concludes that be it a refined feminine timepiece, or a prestigious masculine timekeeper, they all require the same high value watch insurance.

High value watches and a battle of the sexes

When it comes to luxury timepieces it seems the marketing world is somewhat out of sync (pardon the pun) with the male and female markets. Flick through Esquire or GQ magazine and you can’t help thinking you might have accidentally picked up a brochure for Rolex, Tag Heuer or Breitling. Whereas type into Google any search phrase concerning high value watches for women and expect to find the following phrases; ‘best affordable’  ‘trending’ and ‘fashion watches’.

Whilst the leading printing houses appear to be falling over themselves to promote exclusive, valuable watches to men, those with a predominate female readership appear to be focused on high end designer fashion labels, promoting everything from high couture to handbags and everything in between, including luxury watches, but nowhere near to the extent that they dominate male-centred publications.

Then of course, there’s a noticeable difference in the type and tone of the various marketing campaigns for exclusive watch brands. Whilst male targeted marketing focuses heavily on the mechanics and craftsmanship of the piece, the accuracy, the invulnerability and unfaltering prestige such watches denote, advertising targeting female watch wearer’s boarders dangerously close to ‘oh look at the sparkly diamonds’.

Top high value watches for women

At Highworth Insurance we decided to redress the balance inspired by a quote we came across from world renowned watch makers Audemars Piguet. They were clearly aware of the marketing world’s discrepancies when they famously released the first ever concept watch for women the Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon with the statement: "Women’s watches shouldn’t be limited to 'shrinking, pinking, and adding a few diamonds".

With this in mind and just for fun, we’ve put together our own ‘Top 10 makers of prestigious watches for women’. Obviously there are no surprises on this list and naturally they are in no particular order:

  • Audemars Piguet

  • Hermès

  • Patek Philippe

  • Rolex

  • Breguet

  • Van Cleef & Arpels

  • Bovet

  • Baume & Mercier

  • Cartier

  • Bulgari
